It was recently my one year anniversary of joining Emirates and living in Dubai and I can’t believe how quickly the year has gone! I left London on 27 July 2018 and arrived in the early hours of the next morning not knowing what to expect or what the next year had in store for me.
I thought I would do a little throwback to see all of the things I have got up to in the past year – it has definitely been one of the best years of my life so far and it’s only going to get better!

My joining flight
My joining flight was amazing and a memory I’ll never forget. One of the crew members from Business class took me up to the lounge and gave me champagne and lots of different desserts to try. She even made me a goody bag with lots of food to take to my apartment! So sweet. That night I arrived in my empty apartment and woke up the next morning really early to unpack and try and make it homely.

Before

After
It was then time to start training and wearing the famous red ‘Ab-initio’ t-shirt! Training was by far the most amazing 8 weeks. I had the loveliest batchmates and trainers, which made, what was quite an intensive course, so much easier. I also managed to pass my first exam with 100% which was a huge achievement!

100% in my first exam
With the training, also came a lot of socialising and getting to know my new Dubai friends including beach days, yacht parties, dinners and nights out! It was so nice all having the same routine with weekends off (which we didn’t appreciate enough at the time!).

Zero Gravity Beach Club

La Mer Beach

Nights out

Yacht Party

Wild Wadi Waterpark
The first day wearing the Emirates uniform was very special and it felt like such a proud moment! I absolutely loved it (and still do) and couldn’t stop staring at myself, it felt so surreal!
It was then time for my first flights – a turnaround to Khartoum, Sudan and then a layover in Nice, France. Nice was absolutely beautiful and still to this day, it was one of my favourite layovers so far.

First flight to Sudan

First layover to Nice in France
Since then, I have travelled to over 40 destinations all over the world!!! I have seen and done so much in just one year, it still amazes me every day that I do this for a job.

Sydney Harbour

Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur

Eiffel Tower, Paris

Table Mountain, Cape Town

Bali, Indonesia

Santiago, Chile

Carnival in Brazil

Top of the Rock, New York

Nairobi, Kenya

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco
SO many amazing, wonderful destinations! Meanwhile, living in Dubai, between flights has been incredible and I feel like I have explored every last inch of the city. It has also been very special doing it with Mamdouh who I started my journey with the first night I arrived in Dubai as we ended up in the same training batch and same accommodation building!

Burj al Arab

Desert Safari

Burj Khalifa

Jet Skiing

Glow Garden

6 Month Graduation
I also moved bedrooms (in the same apartment) which is slightly bigger and has a balcony and en-suite. I’ve been busy buying lots of souvenirs from all over the world to make my bedroom feel more lived in! I LOVE my bedroom now and it feels so homely.
And that just about sums up my first year working for Emirates. It has truly been the most amazing experience and I feel lucky every day to be doing my dream job, travelling the world and calling Dubai my home. I can’t wait to visit more new destinations and carry on enjoying this wonderful journey.
Thanks for reading.

I would love to become a part of Emirates Cabin Crew! I can’t wait! It’s my dream.
I’m curious about everything!!
I wonder if you could list all the multi sector trips? And maybe the destinations that are popular? Is it hard to get a trip to like Sydney, Rio or Copenhagen?

September 28, 2019 at 5:37 amThank you so much Ken. Funny enough I’ve just landed from Fort Lauderdale-Dubai. I went on holiday to Mexico and then spent a few days in Miami. Such a beautiful place. Take care 😊
