Happy New Year everyone! 2021 is finally here and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us all. One thing I am really hoping for is more flights! My January roster is as follows…
January 2020 Roster
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (Turnaround) **This flight has now been cancelled** **It was changed to Manchester, UK (Layover)
Hyderabad, India (Turnaround) **This flight has now been cancelled** **It was changed to Bahrain (Turnaround)
New York, USA (Layover)
**New flight added, Kuwait (Turnaround)**
When I first got my roster, I had three flights, but unfortunately my first two flights have been cancelled. I was supposed to be flying to Hyderabad in India with Mamdouh which I was really looking forward to but that won’t be happening now! I’m not sure what the specific reasons are for these cancelled flights, but it is a real shame.
In the middle on January, I have a 30 hour layover to New York. I really hope this stays on my roster and doesn’t get cancelled! I love visiting New York, especially in the winter so I’m really excited for this, even if I am stuck in the hotel room for the whole layover. It has been heavy snowing there recently, so I am hoping to catch a glimpse of that.
Due to the cancelled flights at the beginning of the month, I have lots of ‘Can-use’ days which are like reserve. If I am needed for a flight, they will update my roster the day before. I’m not holding out much hope, but it would be lovely to get a couple more layover flights. **Update, since posting this roster, I have had 3 flights added, Manchester, Bahrain and Kuwait**
Ending the month, Mamdouh and I have 10 days of annual leave which is very exciting. We are hoping to visit Egypt and then onto England. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the Pyramids in Cairo as we didn’t do this the last time we were in Egypt. I also can’t wait to go to England and see my family too – although London is still under lockdown so I doubt I’ll be getting out much!
Despite a slow start to the year, I am just so grateful to still have a job that I love doing.
2020 was no ordinary year, but I am sure 2021 will be an extra ordinary year!
Thanks for reading.
