Durban, South Africa

It was an early morning flight to Durban in South Africa, but I had some exciting plans for the layover. When we landed, we made our way over to the hotel, and a couple of us agreed to book the cage shark diving the next morning. I was SO excited about this as I have always wanted to do it in South Africa.

The hotel was beautiful and I had a stunning duplex room. There was also a gorgeous sunset from the rooftop swimming pool which I caught just before it went down.

I got changed quickly, and then met the crew downstairs in the hotel bar as they were giving away free drinks and canapés! We stayed for one, and then walked to nearby restaurant which is known for it’s steak and wine – when in South Africa!

To die for!

The steak was beautiful. Sadly, I don’t like wine, but apparently that was really good too. We stayed in the restaurant until about 10pm then I headed back to my room as I had an early start.

I was up at 4am the next morning for the shark diving but unfortunately, when I came downstairs to reception, they told me it was cancelled because of the weather. GUTTED!!!!!! I was so disappointed as I was really looking forward to it. It was such a shame!

I went back to my room and luckily, managed to get back to sleep. Because I had arranged the shark diving, I didn’t have any other plans with the rest of the crew so I didn’t really know what to do with myself.

I walked down the road to a restaurant and sat outside and had some lunch. The weather was beautiful and it was lovely sitting there in the sun.

I then had a little walk around the mall which was next door but I didn’t end up buying anything. I stopped off for a Krispy Kreme and a tea on the way back though!

My favourite – Krispy Kreme

Before I knew it, it was time for the pick up to the airport and back to Dubai. Out of all of my layovers so far, I have done the least on this one, however I got to try some delicious food and caught up on lots of sleep.  I was so disappointed that the shark diving was cancelled, however, I would love to return one day and try it to do it again next time.

Thanks for reading.
