Golden Call

It had been officially 6 weeks since my final interview and I hadn’t heard a thing. In my final interview I was told the wait would be between 4-6 weeks, so the last couple of weeks I had been obsessively checking my phone. It doesn’t seem like a long time to wait, but let me tell you, it was the longest 6 weeks ever!

Then finally, on the 7th June, while I was at work, I logged in to check my status and I noticed that it had changed to ‘Joining formalities in progress’ – I knew this was a good sign and meant that the golden call would follow!! I was so happy and kept my phone glued to me for the rest of the day. Turns out, I didn’t get the call that day. It was a Thursday and as the weekend in Dubai is on Friday and Saturday, I had to wait until Sunday.

Then, finally Sunday came! I had a feeling I would get the call today so I could barely sleep the night before and woke up really early. It was 07:50am and I was sitting in the kitchen having breakfast with my mum and her husband, Adam, when my phone started ringing and I saw the +971 United Arab Emirates number flash up!

Within a few seconds I burst out crying with pure joy! The lady on the phone was lovely and congratulated me on passing the application process. She asked which airport I would be flying from and which date of joining would be convenient. She then told me I would receive an email shortly after the call with the login details for the candidate portal.

The call only lasted around 3 minutes and most of it was a blur, however, I was SO happy and proud I had made it through. I had got the job with Emirates!

Time to celebrate…
